Following its successful launch in 2022, the SDG Lounge made its return to the prestigious Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June. This year, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), PVBLIC Foundation, and Deloitte Digital joined forces to tackle the world's most pressing issues and create a lasting impact. As the largest and most important annual gathering in the creative marketing community, Cannes Lions provided the perfect platform for advertising, marketing, and impact leaders to come together.
The SDG Lounge, co-created by PVBLIC Foundation and UNDP, is an initiative that builds upon the success of the SDG Media Zone and SDG Media Summit. Traditionally held at the United Nations headquarters and other major convenings worldwide, these high-level events focus on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDG Lounge took the center stage at Cannes Lions, bringing together a diverse range of speakers and guests who are passionate about making a positive difference.
The list of esteemed speakers and guests at the SDG Lounge in Cannes was truly inspiring. We had the honor of hosting Ulrika Modeér, Assistant Secretary-General of the UNDP, and Boaz Paldi, Chief Creative Officer of the UNDP. In addition, industry leaders like Denise Pearl, Global ISV Lead for Sustainability at Google, and Rupen Desai, CMO and Venture Partner at Una Terra, shared their invaluable insights. We were also privileged to welcome Michael Johnson, the remarkable four-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and Oskar Johansson, Creative Director at Volvo Cars. Our Executive Chairman, Sergio Fernandez de Cordova and our President, Stephen Keppel were also among the speakers discussing partnerships, media and sustainability. PVBLIC Foundation Executive Director Daniel Wilkins moderated a special discussion about SDG action with Nneka Henry, Head of the UN Road Safety Fund.
At the SDG Lounge, attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide range of thought-provoking sessions. From "Industry Game Changers and Creative Magic" to "The Role of Gender Equity in Sustainable Transformation" and "Resilience, Heroes, and Stories of Sustainable Transformation Against All Odds," each session provided valuable insights and sparked conversations about how we can collectively achieve the SDGs.
The SDG Lounge at Cannes Lions was not just a platform for discussion; it also served as a call to action. It is a reminder that creativity, innovation, and collaboration are powerful tools in addressing the world's most urgent challenges. By bringing together the brightest minds and the most passionate change-makers, we are paving the way for a more sustainable and equitable future.
As PVBLIC Foundation, we are grateful to the UNDP, Deloitte Digital, and all the incredible speakers and guests who made the SDG Lounge a resounding success. Together, we can harness the power of creativity to drive positive change and create a world where the Sustainable Development Goals are not just aspirations but concrete realities.
“The SDG Lounge at Cannes Lions is an important step towards building a more sustainable and inclusive future,” said PVBLIC President Stephen Keppel. “Let’s continue to collaborate, innovate, and take action to turn these bold ambitions into tangible results. Together, we can make a difference and create a world where creativity becomes a force for good.”
