Copenhagen, Denmark — In a city known for its innovation and commitment to sustainability, PVBLIC Foundation and Rosetree Financial Services launched the Family Offices for Sustainable Development (FOSD) Nordic hub this past week.

On September 4th, the Founder and CEO of Rosetree, Michael Bühlmann, and the Global Affairs Director of State of Green, Iver Høj Nielsen, gathered senior Danish government officials, influential family office principals, philanthropic leaders, and impact investors for an evening of dialogue on how the Nordic region can help shape the future of sustainable development.

The evening marked the official expansion of PVBLIC’s FOSD platform into Northern Europe, a strategic move positioning Denmark as a hub for mobilizing private capital toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Why FOSD Nordic?

Since its founding in 2011, PVBLIC has built a global reputation for designing and implementing initiatives that bridge the worlds of governance, finance, philanthropy, and technology. The FOSD platform was created to harness the influence, networks, and resources of family offices, channeling them into measurable, high-impact solutions.

The FOSD model is simple but effective:

  • Educate – Introduce family offices to global priorities, frameworks, and opportunities in sustainable development.

  • Engage – Match private capital and expertise with scalable programs aligned to UN priorities.

  • Activate – Drive coordinated action that achieves systemic change, not isolated outcomes.

By anchoring the Nordic hub in Denmark, PVBLIC and Rosetree are tapping into a region with a strong tradition of sustainability leadership, policy innovation, and global cooperation.

A Convergence of Public and Private Leadership

In his remarks during the dinner, PVBLIC Founder & Executive Chairman Sergio Fernandez de Cordova underscored the need for true multilateral partnerships where governments, private enterprise, and civil society work in full alignment.

“Governments can set the vision and policy framework. Private capital can bring agility, innovation, and scale. Civil society can ensure inclusion and accountability. Through FOSD, we’re building the structures where these forces come together — not in parallel, but in partnership.”

This alignment is particularly timely. Denmark’s new development policy prioritizes mobilizing private capital for investments in the blue and green economy in emerging markets — a vision that mirrors the goals of FOSD Nordic.

Impact in Action

PVBLIC President Stephen Keppel shared examples of how the FOSD approach is already producing results across the globe, including the following programs:

  • The SDG Data Alliance – Active in 20+ countries (with plans to reach 60), building national geospatial data hubs to help governments make better, data-driven decisions.

  • SIDS Global Data Hubs – An initiative of the Data Alliance, providing Small Island Developing States (SIDS) with the tools, training, and data needed to strengthen resilience and value natural assets.

  • Resilience, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Nature (REIN) Hubs – Accelerating entrepreneurship and investment in renewable energy, nature-based solutions, and climate resilience, with 300 entrepreneurs engaged and dozens of ventures supported across 5 hubs in Latin America.

  • Health Equity Forum – Bringing together leaders in health, finance, and technology to address global health disparities and strengthen healthcare systems.

  • Technology Transfer Program – Connecting innovators with developing countries to scale high-impact technologies without relying on traditional donor models.

These initiatives, Keppel noted, only succeed because of diverse partners united by a shared mission.

Looking Ahead to UNGA 80

The FOSD Nordic launch was not an endpoint, it was a beginning. In just a few weeks, PVBLIC will convene global leaders during United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 80 in New York, hosting a series of high-level engagements including:

  • PVBLIC Partnerships Day

  • FOSD Summit & Reception

  • The UNGA Soirée

  • Health Equity Forum

  • Cumbre de Impacto Iberoamericano

Nordic family offices and leaders were invited to join these gatherings, reinforcing Denmark’s role as a global partner in sustainable development and climate finance.

A Shared Vision for the Future

As the evening closed, Keppel left attendees with a clear message:

“This is not about charity. It’s about smart, strategic investment in the future we all share. And with the Nordic region’s tradition of leadership in sustainability, innovation, and diplomacy, the impact we can achieve together will be extraordinary.”

FOSD Nordic is now poised to serve as a bridge, connecting Nordic leadership and resources with global opportunities for lasting, systemic change.
