The Order of Saint Lazarus outlines collaboration with Transforming Education Donor Fund



The Transforming Education Fund welcomes the opportunity to develop a new global partnership with the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem to support the educational work of the Scholas Occurrentes Foundation and the PVBLIC Foundation. The Order of Saint Lazarus was represented by its Grand Master, His Excellency Don Francisco de Borbón von Hardenberg in a meeting with the Scholas Occurrentes World Directors and His Holiness Pope Francis to recognize this new opportunity.


VATICAN CITY - In November 2022, PVBLIC Foundation hosted its annual private meeting with the senior leadership of Scholas Occurrentes and His Holiness Pope Francis, creator and promoter of the foundation, to officially bless and celebrate the Transforming Education Donor Fund’s support of global education projects.


This encounter at the Vatican, featured the presence of His Excellency Don Francisco de Borbón von Hardenberg the Grand Master of the Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem accompanied by PVBLIC Foundation Executive Chairman, Sergio Fernández de Córdova de Veyga, and PVBLIC Foundation President Stephen Keppel. The private meeting discussed creating a partnership across the five continents and 43 countries where the Order of Saint Lazarus is currently active to support the global education programs of the Scholas Occurrentes Foundation and PVBLIC Foundation via the Transforming Education Donor Fund.

Through this alliance, the Order of Saint Lazarus will address its ongoing obligation to assist disadvantaged people throughout the world. The aims of the Order are to preserve and defend the Christian faith, support, care for and help the poor, the sick and the dying, promote and maintain the principles of Christian chivalry and to follow the teachings of Christ in all it does. The activities of the Order are worldwide, with particular attention to Hansen’s Disease (otherwise known as leprosy). By its activities in charitable, philanthropic, health and education fields the Order contributes to the achievement of the aims and principles of the United Nations Charter and the Statute of the Council of Europe.


The Scholas Occurrentes Foundation is an international Organization of Pontifical right present in 190 countries. Since its inception in Argentina, Pope Francis dreamed of Scholas as the possibility of giving a concrete response to the call of this era, conferring on him the task of educating in the openness to the other, upon hearing that gathering the pieces of an atomized and empty of meaning world, and start creating a new culture: the Culture of Encounter.


Today, Scholas has a global presence integrating more than 400 thousand educational centers and reaching more than one million children and young people around the world. Its mission is to answer the call to create a culture of encounter and bring young people together in an education that generates meaning.

PVBLIC Foundation has been collaborating with Scholas Occurrentes, the foundation created and promoted by Pope Francis, managing the Transforming Education Donor Fund program since 2019 bringing together heads of global Family Offices to educate, engage and activate across select opportunities. The Transforming Education Donor Fund is a joint partnership that raises funding to support Scholas’ educational programs around the world and PVBLIC Foundation initiatives. The donor advised fund aims to combine art, sports, and technology in order to promote culture through education, bringing together global agendas and empathy among humans to build a better tomorrow, starting with our youth.

The Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem


The Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem is an ecumenical organization of Christian hospitallers whose spirit goes back to the Holy Land and the Crusades having its foundation in the 12th century. The Order is one of the smallest of the chivalric orders with a membership numbering approximately 4,500 members in Grand Priories, Grand Bailiwicks, Priories, Bailiwicks, and Delegations in the five continents. The Order's traditional humanitarian activities are in the field of leprosy but its philanthropic activities today have extended to other fields supporting various medical missions in the developing world.

Transforming Education Donor Fund


The Transforming Education Donor Fund aims to combine art, sports and technology in order to promote culture through education, bringing together global agendas and empathy among humans to build a better tomorrow, starting with our youth. The Education Transformation Fund is a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) that can be supported with any asset contribution – cash, stock, or other assets. The Transforming Education Donor Fund was created and is governed by Scholas Occurrentes Foundation and PVBLIC Foundation.
