Only Together can we vaccinate the world and end COVID

PVBLIC Foundation supports the United Nations’ #OnlyTogether campaign to promote equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines.

Last week, the United Nations launched its new global campaign “Only Together” which aims to highlight the importance of fair and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines in all countries of the world. PVBLIC Foundation joined the campaign to support and extend #OnlyTogether´s visibility, especially in Asia, Latin America, and the United States.

In 2020, coronavirus represented one of the greatest challenges humanity has faced in the 21st century. Such profound impact has been made to the global population. The virus alone has caused over 2.8 million deaths, while severally affecting the health and safety of millions of others.

Remarkable scientific progress has been made to create, produce and distribute the vaccine against COVID-19, instilling hope that the virus could be contained and eventually eradicated. Within the first few months of 2021, many governments have already deployed their vaccination plans for a significant percentage of their populations. Success stories that are worth pointing out include the cases of Israel and Chile, both of which have been prompt in administering doses to their people.

Most countries, however, lack proper strategies and resources to initiate and guarantee vaccination for all their populations. This is the case, for example, in most Latin American countries, including Uruguay, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Cuba, which have yet to receive any vaccine doses.

The goal of the UN and the #OnlyTogether campaign is a common one: health for the world's population and victory in the battle against COVID-19.

The PVBLIC Foundation is proud to highlight the amazing labor that the UN has started with this campaign by reinforncing to audiences around the world that we are all collectively facing the consequences of a devastating pandemic. Within the campaign, lies a message of hope to more vulnerable countries and communities: just as we have all suffered the shattering effects of the pandemic, we will equally benefit from the solution.

PVBLIC Foundation invites people from all over the world to get involved with the campaign and encourages both government and civil society efforts to re-revitalize our economies and support health personnel and the world's most vulnerable people. The importance of people engaging with #OnlyTogether aligns with the UN General Secretary - Antonio Guterres proposal to consider the COVID-19 vaccine as a global public good” and thus vaccinate people around the world without exceptions.
