Launch of the UN-IGIF Country-Level Action Plan in Tonga

Official launch of the UN-IGIF Country-level action plan in Tonga

PVBLIC Foundation is immensely proud to share news of the official launch of the UN-IGIF Country-level action plan in Tonga, which was guided by the support of the SDG Data Alliance.

The SDG Data Alliance is a multi-stakeholder program that values partnerships and focuses on equity. Collaborating partners include PVBLIC Foundation, Esri, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and The United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) Secretariat. The United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF) is a multidimensional framework that was developed by and for all countries and it guides countries step by step in the development, management, and refinement of their national geospatial arrangements, capabilities, and resources.

The launch was attended by ministry leaders and data partners. Geospatial and digital resources provide developing countries the tools to support national development and aspirations.

The SDG Data Alliance supports countries in the creation of their IGIF country action plans and also works with them to deploy national SDG Data Hubs. The purpose of these hubs is to enable national governments to share data, monitor public investments, and track progress on the SDGs. With the launch of the UN-IGIF Country-level action plan, in partnership with the SDG Data Alliance, Tonga aims to utilize the power of digital data and resources to maximize areas of industry, development, public infrastructure, and more.
