73rd Session of the
SEPTEMBER 24-28, 2018
UNITED NATIONS HQ - NYC
The SDG Media Zone—a live format of interviews, panel discussions and special events—takes place every year at the UN General Assembly and during other high-level events to engage, recognize and celebrate the work that people and organizations are doing to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Three years ago, countries adopted the SDGs—a bold, ambitious, and historic agenda—to promote prosperity and well-being while protecting the environment by 2030. Also known as a plan for people and planet, the 17 Goals focus on the three dimensions of sustainable development—economic, social and environmental.
Speakers at the SDG Media Zone, including leaders from governments, civil society and the private sector as well as experts, celebrities and other change-makers committed to global good, have an opportunity to discuss a range of global challenges from poverty, inequality, education to climate change and inclusive urbanization.
All discussions, from panel discussions to one-on-one interviews to Ted-style talks, will be live streamed on UN Web TV, covered by the media and promoted on United Nations and participating entities' social media platforms. In 2017, the #SDGLive hashtag had a total reach of more than 53 million on Twitter.
The Media Zone is organized by the UN Department of Public Information (DPI), the UN Foundation and the Pvblic Foundation. For more information and videos from past SDG Media Zones at the UN Headquarters, please visit www.un.org/sdgmediazone
