Dr Iyabo Ojikutu is a voice for peace at the SDG Media Zone 72nd United Nations General Assembly
On September 19th, author and paediatrician Dr Iyabo Ojikutu hosted a private reception at the SDG Media Zone to introduce her recent book Permanent Happiness to media, peers and influencers. Dr Iyabo Ojikutu’s work has a strong focus on achieving Goal 16 - to promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies.
Permanent Happiness outlines three easy steps to pursuing permanent happiness. It tackles key life situations we encounter during our daily living and shows how to pursue peace and be positive influencers on those around us. When our lives are in balance, we discover we let go of the stress and worry that arise when life throws us curveballs.
Kelly Egan, Founder Peace Day 365, shares: “Iyabo is engaging and clearly committed to bringing the message of the balance of happiness and inner peace to her readers in her new book permanent Happiness. In setting out to inspire, influence and educate she shows that everyone, everywhere can be included to make the world a better place. Through her work, and that of her growing community, she’s making others aware of the Sustainable Development Goals through peacebuilding... inside and out.”
Kerry Bannigan, SDG Media Zone Executive Producer and PVBLIC Board member, further added, “Dr Ojikutu’s vision to look beyond her business and to impact her community with a higher purpose is the leadership required and welcomed to implement the SDGs. Entrepreneurs and business leaders alike are an essential component to connect people and communities to the framework of the SDGs. We look forward to supporting her on the road to influencing peace for all.”
During the week of 18th to 22nd September, the SDG Media Zone hosted live broadcast of interviews, panel discussions and other digital content, to engage people all around the world in the important conversations happening at the UN General Assembly. Each day, the SDG Media Zone set the scene for conversations with prominent officials and experts on a broad range of topics including the role of sustainable development in preventing conflict, promoting gender equality, addressing climate change, engaging youth and partnerships.
Dr Iyabo Ojikutu comments: “It was such an honor hosting a reception at the 72nd UN General Assembly SDG Media Zone. I was so happy to introduce the concept of my book Permanent Happiness to the world at large. I believe Individual Peace and Happiness will lead to Individual empowerment and fulfilment, which will lead to stronger communities, stronger voices and inclusive societies and a peaceful, inclusive world. I'm fully committed to promoting and raising awareness of SDG #16 with my voice, writing and active involvement in projects that support this global goal.”
In a world dominated by economic and environmental constraints, high demands on political and financial stability, and beset with increasing migration and mounting refugee crises, the discussions at this year’s United Nations General Assembly aimed to play a critical role in catalyzing action for the achievement of sustainable development and peace.
