This month's featured campaign is an award winning international non-profit organization empowering children and youth through skateboarding and education in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa.
Over 1600 children, aged 5–17, attend Skateistan’s programs, over 50% of which are girls. Through their various programs such as Outreach, Skate and Create, Back-to-School and Youth Leadership, the goal is to use skateboarding as a way to engage children, focusing mainly on those who come from low-income backgrounds, children with disabilities and girls, and to build a community where youth have the opportunity to become leaders for a better world.
Their mission is to use skateboarding as a hook to provide educational programs for at-risk youth, empowering them to create new opportunities and the potential for change.
The organization just released 'Citizens of Skateistan', featuring legendary skaters Tony Hawk, Jamie Thomas, and Mimi Knoop. Check it out below, and help by donating monthly and becoming a 'Citizen of Skateistan', the best way for you to get involved and to join the community.
