La Mer's "Wave Walk"

May 30, 2017

On May 20th a collection of 53 "waves" arose on the streets of New York. The art installation is a collaboration between Project 0 and luxury skin care brand, La Mer, who brought the sculptures into the Big Apple to raise awareness around Project 0's mission - to protect the world's oceans.

The exhibition will stay in New York until June 21st and coincides with this months United Nations Ocean Conference held from June 5th – June 9th. The Ocean conference will bring together activists, celebrities, UN representatives and multiple government representatives, many of them being the “wave makers”in their own right.

Each of the 53 sculptures is shaped in a similar way but was uniquely designed by a renowned artist. Designers include celebrities and activists such as Richard Branson, Cara Delevingne, Vivian Westwood, Slash and the President of the UN General Assembly H.E. Peter Thomson.

Sotheby’s will auction off select wave sculptures in an exclusive, live charity event on June 21st. Until then, all the artwork can be purchased at the online auction hosted by the Paddle8, with all net proceeds supporting marine conservation projects.
