The 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development offers an unprecedented opportunity for societies to make sure women have equal access to lead public institutions on the path to transformative change. In support of that agenda and its Global Goals, UNDP’s Global Gender Equality in Public Administration (GEPA) Initiative and partners are hosted a SDG Media Zone to launch two initiatives:
· The Global Women’s Leadership Initiative Index, developed by the Wilson Center’s Women in Public Service Project in collaboration with UNDP;
· The publication ‘Gender Diversity in the State – a Development Accelerator?’
The Sustainable Development Goals guide us to invest in data, knowledge and analysis towards informed decision-making. They also reinforce both gender equality and effective institutions as goals in themselves and as instruments to reach other development objectives. This event will showcase recent advances in closing the enormous data gaps on women in public institutions and how this data can be harnessed to accelerate progress toward the SDGs.
