4TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIDS 27-30 MAY, 2024 - ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

The fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) will be held from 27 to 30 May 2024 in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. Under the overarching theme of “Charting the course toward resilient prosperity", the Conference will aim to assess the ability of SIDS to achieve sustainable development, including the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. It will result in an intergovernmentally agreed, focused, forward-looking, and action-oriented political outcome document.

Our Support for SIDS and SIDS4

PVBLIC Foundation is committed to the long-term development of all SIDS and will support the achieve of the objectives they will outline in the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS (ABAS).

PVBLIC is honored to support SIDS4 as the official conference manager and lead program partner for the SIDS Center of Excellence and the SIDS Global Data Hub.

In October 2023, PVBLIC supported the Kingdom of Tonga in hosting the annual UN Day Concert, helping to ensure the Concert’s thematic focus was on SIDS and SIDS4.

 SIDS Center of Excellence (CoE) and the SIDS Global Data Hub

At the UN General Assembly in September 2023, PVBLIC signed a collaboration agreement with the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) and Antigua & Barbuda to support the establishment of a SIDS Centre of Excellence and a SIDS Global Data Hub, powered by the SDG Data Alliance.

The SIDS Center of Excellence will serve as a hub for research, capacity building, and collaboration to enhance the socio-economic and environmental resilience of SIDS.
 
To be launched at SIDS4, the SIDS Global Data Hub will establish a sustainable and enduring repository for comprehensive data on SIDS, help national governments share data, monitor public investments, track progress toward the SDGs, and engage stakeholders.

This side event will educate attendees on the purpose of the CoE and the pivotal role that innovation, technology and entrepreneurship can plan in supporting the next 10-year program of action.

Organized by: PVBLIC Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda with insights from the Office of Global Partnerships at the US Department of State.

Island Resilience Forum:  Public-Private Partnerships for the Goals

The Island Resilience Forum at SIDS4 builds upon a series of events that took place during the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, 2023 UN Day Concert, COP28, and the Island Resilience Summit at Earthx2024.  Co-hosted by the same organizing partners, the Island Resilience Forum at SIDS4 will amplify key initiatives utilizing public-private partnerships to achieve regional resilience and global prosperity.

The SIDS Global Data Hub: How Geospatial Information and Data Can Create a Resilient and Prosperous Future for SIDS

This Side Event will introduce the SIDS Global Data Hub within the SIDS Center of Excellence and will provide participants with a conceptual overview of the structure and operational capabilities of the SIDS Global Data Hub.

 

The event will also demonstrate a ‘proof-of-concept’ prototype SIDS Global Data Hub capability, showcasing Antigua & Barbuda, Tonga, and the Maldives, and building upon and implementing the global practices and frameworks of the SDG Data Alliance.

SDG Media Zone – SIDS4, Antigua and Barbuda

The SIDS4 SDG Media Zone will highlight opportunities to accelerate sustainable development progress in the SIDS regions and efforts towards a more resilient future. Conversations in the Zone will unpack some of the Conference themes, including financing for development, climate change, youth engagement and digital technologies.
